MUSIC – Lady Gaga is back in front of the camera, but (fortunately) not for a new opus of the Joker. This Tuesday, October 29, the pop starwhose performance as Harley Quinn did not convince at the box office, unveiled the clip for Diseasefirst single from a seventh album eagerly awaited by fans.
The four-and-a-bit minute video features the singer Bad Romance in different versions of herself, in the middle of a completely empty residential neighborhood. We see them pell-mell fighting in the street, being chained to each other, fleeing, scaring each other and even hugging each other.
“ I think a lot about the relationship I have with my own inner demonsspecifies the 38-year-old singer on Instagram, where she teased the clip a few hours before it was posted online. It has never been easy for me to cope with the seduction that chaos and turmoil have on me. I feel claustrophobic. »
She continues: “ Illness is about facing that fear, confronting myself and my inner darkness, and understanding that sometimes I can’t win or escape the parts of myself that scare me. I can try to run from them, but they are still a part of me, and I can run and run, but eventually I will find that part of myself again, even if just for a moment. »
First single from Lady Gaga’s next album, Disease had already won over the superstar’s fans before the clip was unveiled, with some seeing in this dark-pop track the singer’s return to what made her first successes.
Lady Gaga at the cinema
Although her last solo album dates back more than four years, Lady Gaga has not remained inactive, quite the contrary. After releasing a collaborative jazz album Love For Sale alongside Tony Bennett, with whom the singer had already collaborated on Cheek To Cheekthe singer has fully launched herself into the world of cinema.
After breaking the screen in A Star is Born in 2018, she starred alongside Adam Driver, Al Pacino and Jared Leto in House of Gucci by Ridley Scott, before composing the soundtrack for Top Gun: Maverick by Joseph Kosinski.
And since the beginning of October, Lady Gaga has returned to theaters with Joker: Folie à deux by Todd Phillips, which she matched with Harlequina concept album of covers of American standards. LG7 (provisional title of the upcoming seventh disc) does not yet have an official release date at the time of writing.
