Nimes Olympic
Diouf and Ngakoutou’s turn. The central defender and the attacker are respectively the 19th and 20th player used this season by Frédéric Bompard in the National championship. Neither had been on the scoresheet this season. Waly Diouf played the entire match and Wesley Ngakoutou only came on nine minutes at the end of the match. It was, however, not the first appearance of the striker who returned for three minutes on the last day of Ligue 2 last season (Nîmes – Sochaux 3-1).
Bad start. With three points in four days, Nîmes Olympique’s record is not off to an exceptional start in the championship. “ Those who think that we are playing the climb are wrong », regularly reminds Frédéric Bompard. Since then, Friday evening the optimists must be a little fewer in number. If we look back, we realize that, spanning two seasons, the Crocodiles have only won two of their last ten matches. (two victories, four draws and four defeats). Certainly, the start of the Nîmes is not dazzling, but during the 2011-12 financial year, the NO also had three points after four days (one victory and three defeats), before redressing the bar and being crowned National champion.

A frustrating defeat. It was with a cruel scenario that the Rugby Club Nîmes concluded the first day of Nationale 2. The Gardois thought they had a great victory, when, in added time, the Macon team scored a try which deprived RCN of a success, for only one point (25-24). Too bad, because Nîmes had taken control after a delicate start to the match (12-3, 15th). In the second period, tests by Barnieras (42nd) and R. Darmon (75th) put Nîmes in a favorable position (18-24). However, it was insufficient, since the final seconds were fatal for Guillaume Aguilar’s players. For this match, the RCN fielded the following team: Pouyleau, Lafont, Barbet – Sparano, Boissière – Barnièras (cap), Kelly, Gulizzi – Gensana, Chastaing – Pichard, Guillimin, Totovosau, Ngandu – Felix. Substitutes: Nierat, Nouri, Vernier, Tonin, Darmon, Phillips, Sabbia and Balust. Next meeting for the Nîmes, Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Nicolas-Kaufmann stadium for the reception of the Stade-Métropolitain which won 25-18 against Dijon for the first day of Nationale 2.
Stade Beaucairois FC
Beaucaire’s flawless performance. This is a Gard club that shines. Stade Beaucairois Football Club won its second victory in as many days. One week, after winning 3-0 at Cagnes Le Cros, the SBFC disposed of the Entente Saint-Clément Montferrier 1-0. It was the former Crocodile, Luca Valls who scored the winning goal (1-0, 21st). Short, but precious success which allows Beaucaire to share the lead of Pool A with the Montpellier reserve. The Gardois will try to pass three, Saturday, during a trip to EUGA ARDIV (Marseille club) while the Montpellier will go to Montferrier.
USAM
“It was Loli…”. This Sunday, September 10 at 5 p.m., USAM Nîmes Gard begins its Starligue season with the reception of Chambéry for a first shock. For this event, the club wanted to organize a half-time concert. It is the Corsican singer Vincent Colonna alias “La Petite Culotte” who will perform his famous hit “La Goffa Lolita”, an essential piece of all summer parties. Enough to keep the public warm before the second period. For this match, other activities are planned. Already here last season, rider Loane will give a demonstration of equestrian acrobatics on the North Parvis of Parnasse. Inside, Valentine, a professional tattoo artist in Marguerittes, will offer a series of “flash” tattoos bearing the image of the USAM. A match which will be followed live with commentary on the Objectif Gard website.
MMA
Saint-Denis winner. Nîmes can boast of having a rising MMA star born in the city of Antonins. Former special forces soldier, Benoît Saint-Denis was once again talked about on Saturday evening at the Accor Arena for UFC Paris. The 27-year-old from Nîmes handily beat the Brazilian Thiago Moises. A few seconds from the end of the second round, the one nicknamed the “God of War” forced the referee to stop the match while he was chaining rights into the head of his opponent then stuck on the ground. With 12th victory on the clock, BSD enters the Top 15 of less than 70 kilos, the toughest category in the UFC. The Gardois wants to continue to progress and is now aiming for a world belt.
