Krejčíková is in the final with Siegemundová for the first time, Pavlásek will also play for the title

Tennis player Barbora Krejčíková advanced to the first joint final with Laura Siegemundová at the clay tournament in Madrid. In the semi-finals, the Czech-German pair defeated the number one seeds Sia Shuwei from Taiwan and Elise Mertensová from Belgium 6:3, 7:5. Adam Pavlásek will play for the most valuable title in his career and the first on the ATP circuit at the Masters tournament in Madrid. The Czech doubles specialist and Uruguayan Ariel Behar advanced to the doubles final without a fight.

Krejčíková she is in the finals for the first time since last September, when she triumphed in San Diego with her then stable partner Kateřina Siniaková, who broke up with her after the season. She and Siegemundova advanced to the semi-finals for the third time this year, and for the first time they managed to reach the decisive match.

The 28-year-old Krejčíková is in the 29th doubles final of her career and will be playing for her 19th title.

Jiří Lehečka

Lehečka has already rubbed off and is settling among the stars. I lost my shyness, he admitted

In the singles final, just like last year, Poland’s Iga Šwiateková and Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenková will meet. Defending champion Sabalenkova became the second semi-finalist after Thursday night’s 1:6, 7:5, 7:6 win over Jelena Rybakinová from Kazakhstan.

At the same time, the world number two was two balls away from elimination. After winning the first set smoothly, Rybakin served out a 5-4 match win. At 30:30, however, she sent two shots into the game, Sabalenko turned the set and completed the turn in the tie-break of the third set.

“I just tried to fight for every point. I was hoping to get an opportunity to turn the match around, and I’m very happy that I was able to do it,” said two-time Australian Open champion Sabalenkova.

Last year’s Wimbledon winner Rybakinová, who ended her successful journey in the round of 16 with the tournament of Czech qualifier Sára Bejlek, will not follow up on the April triumph from Stuttgart.

World number one Šwiateková outclassed American Madison Keys 6:1, 6:3 in the semifinals. Sabalenkova won last year’s final in Madrid in three sets.

Pavlasek advanced without a fight

Tennis player Pavlásek will play for the most valuable title in his career and the first on the ATP circuit at the Masters tournament in Madrid. The Czech doubles specialist and Uruguayan Ariel Behar advanced to the doubles final without a fight. Their opponents, the second seeded Spanish-Argentinian pair of Marcel Granollers, Horacio Zeballos withdrew due to injury before the semi-final match.

So far, Pavlásek has collected trophies only at challengers, in which he succeeded eight times, and ITF tournaments. On the elite ATP circuit, he played the final only once, last year in Antwerp with Behar. On Spanish clay, they will compete for the title with American Sebastian Korda and Jordan Thompson from Australia.
