Kim Jong Un expresses support for Putin on Victory Day and indirectly says that he expects Russian victory in Ukraine

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un expressed his “firm support and solidarity” with Russia in his congratulatory message to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the Victory Daywhich marks the 79th anniversary of the end of World War II, state news agency KCNA reported.

Russia commemorates this Thursday the victory of the Soviet Union over Nazi Germany in the Second World War, at a time when relations with the West are plunged into crisis due to the advance of Russian troops against Ukrainian forces supported by Western powers.

“I express my firm support and solidarity with the sacred cause of Russia, hoping that you and the brave Russian army and people will obtain “a new victory in the fight to defeat the hegemonic policy of the imperialists”Kim said in his letter to Putin according to KCNA.

The United States and other countries have accused North Korea to transfer weapons to Russia for use against Ukrainea country that invaded in February 2022.

Both Moscow and Pyongyang They have denied the accusations, but in 2023 they committed to strengthening their military relations.
