The Democratic candidate for the White House, Kamala Harris, leads the republican donald trump among Latino voters of the seven key states, of which he would get 56% of the votes, compared to the 31% that the former president would achieve, according to a survey published this Tuesday.
The survey by the Hispanic Federation and Latino Victory Foundation revealed this Tuesday that the Democrat’s candidacy has caused enthusiasm among Hispanics in key statesa population sector in which he maintains an advantage of more than 25 points over his opponent.
In this way, the survey, published three weeks before the elections, reveals that Harris is in front in each of the seven pivotal states, with a percentage of favorability in each state between 58% and 54%.
In Pennsylvania, one of the key states, Harris would win 57% of the Latino vote, compared to Trump’s 27%.
The results also show that 71% of Latino voters plan to go voteespecially those who live in key states like Michigan and Pennsylvania.
In addition, 74% say they are closely following the news about the November 5 elections.
“Our hope is that with this survey we can reframe the way the power of Latino voters is perceived, both nationally and at the state level. Most importantly, though, Let’s help our own community get to the polls.”said the president of the federation, Frankie Miranda, at a press conference held in Pennsylvania.
Miranda highlighted that the results “confirm that Latinos are listening and care about the upcoming elections.”
The survey, which was carried out between October 2 and 10 with a sample of 1,900 Latinosshows that 60% of those interviewed are more interested in voting in the elections after Harris’ arrival.
“There is stronger support for the Democratic party across immigration, working class issues and other things,” said Professor Matt Barreto, director of the Democratic firm BSP Research.
Barreto also mentioned Harris campaign’s record investment in the Latino community and in events in states such as Pennsylvania, Arizona or Nevada to compare the Latino vote, compared to the reduction of personnel and Latino campaign committees carried out by Trump.
On the other hand, the majority of Latinos consider the cost of living and inflation as their main problem (59%), employment (38%) and the cost and access to housing (32%), although they also mention other issues such as reproductive rights, climate change, the situation on the border with Mexico and access to medical care.
