It has been a week full of emotions for Jorge Martín. After proclaiming MotoGP world champion last Sundaythe pilot has become the main protagonist of this week… although, on this occasion, for reasons unrelated to his latest sporting milestone.
As I explained yesterday David Broncano, it was planned that was in your program, The Revolt…but “about half an hour before starting to record, they told us that in The Anthill “They found out that I was coming here today and that in theory I was going there next week, they don’t want anyone to come here before.”
A revelation that has sparked controversy, since, for some time now, the ‘rivalry’ that would exist between the space led by Broncano and the one led by Pablo Motos has been widely discussed.
From The Anthill, have issued a statement explaining that it is “a minor misunderstanding” and that “two weeks before the final, we had agreed to have Jorge Martín exclusively on our program. Today one of their representatives made a mistake by changing the visit they had scheduled with another pilot.”
“I still don’t quite believe it”
HELLO! had the opportunity to accompany Jorge in the Motul Solidarity Grand Prix of Barcelonathat decisive race in which he made history by becoming the fifth spanish -along with Álex Crivillé, Jorge Lorenzo, Marc Márquez and Joan Mir- to reach the top of the podium.
As can be seen in the pages of our magazine, we entered with his family and his girlfriend, Maria Monfortin it boxesfrom where they followed, with attention, a lot of nerves and emotion – in fact, María could not hold back her tears -, that competition in which ‘everything’ was at stake. And as soon as the pilot achieved victory, the great celebration began: “A super emotional moment,” in the words of the influencer.
“I’m very excited,” she told us. “Jorge and I keep saying don’t wake us up from this dream.”
Just a few hours after his great achievement, it was the athlete himself who confessed to us: “I feel totally happy and still without completely believing it…”. “Although it is true that I believe that I’ll be more aware after a couple of days. Now I want to be very focused on the start with my new team,” he added.
Martinator’s dream
At 26 years old, the boy from San Sebastián de los Reyes who got lost between the pages of magazines Motorcycling and Motorcycle Only has touched the sky. He had it in his veins. His father, Angel Martintransmitted to him that nerve for being on the motorcycle, and he soon saw that his son – whom he calls ‘Martinator’ – was born to be on the circuits. Although The journey to reach the top was not easy.
“We have all sacrificed a lot. Everything we earned went to the motorcycles. “We forgot about vacations so we could pay for the tires,” explained his mother, Susana Almoguera, to the newspaper. The Country.
Little Jorge had great talent, but, in a world like that of motors, that’s not enough. It also required a large financial investment that his parents could not afford. That is why he knew, from very early on, that only with victory could he cover the expenses…and that, perhaps, also helped to forge that competitive and sacrificial spirit – “to keep fighting, to never give up, that’s how it has been all my life,” as he said in said newspaper – that characterizes him.
No matter how painful the fall was, defeat has never been an option on the table. His third race as a MotoGP rider, at the 2021 Portuguese GP, ended with seven broken bones and several operations. And with his body ‘full of irons’, he got back up, to emerge stronger and win the Esteria GP months later.
“I have remembered all my father’s overtimeof mom’s macaroni in the vanof grandmothers and grandfather Angelwho have been able to experience this. Also from grandfather Rafa, who unfortunately is no longer here but has surely seen him from the sky,” declared the new champion last weekend. Because, as he himself acknowledged, he has not had “an easy road, never, neither me nor mine, but no one said that dreams are easy to achieve.” And now he can say that he savors the success that, with so much sacrifice, he has achieved.
