Barcelona will reform the oldest market in the city and one of the most visited in the city: the boqueria. The City Council faces its remodeling with the objective of maintain its function as a municipal market and, at the same time, seek a balance with touristspreserve its uniqueness and a commercial offer that guarantees its viability. The forecast is that the workswhich have a budget of 12 million, start in 2025 and end in 2027 so that it is a joint remodeling with the Rambla.
This was explained this Tuesday by the Councilor for Economic Promotion, Raquel Giland the councilor of Ciutat Vella, Albert Batlle. Specifically, the action contemplates a physical transformation of the space that includes remodeling the fish area, change the fiber cement roof, create a new central corridor and a new access from Gardunya Square to open the market to the Raval neighborhood.
