Inmaculada is going to connect very well with the audience because it belongs to the religious horror genre

Diamond Films México has high expectations for the release of the horror film Inmaculada, starring Sydney Sweeney and Álvaro Morte. Set to premiere on May 30th, the film—distributed by Diamond Films—will be screened in 1,500 theaters across Mexico and will also be shown in most countries in Latin America. Giselle Abbud, General Director of Diamond Films México, expressed confidence in the film’s potential to resonate with audiences in Mexico and Latin America due to its genre as a horror-religious film.

Sydney Sweeney (Anyone But You, Euforia, The White Lotus) portrays Cecilia, an American nun of devout faith who embarks on a journey to a remote convent in the picturesque Italian countryside. The warm welcome Cecilia receives quickly turns into a nightmare as it becomes clear that her new home harbors sinister secrets and unspeakable horrors. Directed by Michael Mohan and produced by David Bernad, Jonathan Davino, Teddy Schwarzman, Michael Heimler, and Sydney Sweeney herself.

Abbud emphasized that Immaculate is a well-crafted film, with effective pacing, production value, and a gripping storyline that culminates in a jaw-dropping finale. She expressed high expectations for the film’s opening weekend, considering it the largest premiere of that weekend.

The fact that Sydney Sweeney is also a producer and takes on a role so different from her usual characters is another aspect that Abbud believes will attract audiences. She cited Sweeney’s previous film, Anyone but You, distributed by Sony, which received an incredible response from audiences in Mexico. Abbud mentioned that after the standard theatrical window of about 45 days, Inmaculada” will be available on Amazon Prime in five or six months.

Inmaculada, starring Sydney Sweeney and Álvaro Morte, premieres this May 30. It is distributed by Diamond Films

Diamond Films held a press conference to announce details about Immaculate Conception, a horror-religious film premiering on May 30th

For Spanish actor Álvaro Morte, taking on this role was like taking a leap of faith, he explained in a press conference. He received a call from Sweeney, whom he had met at lunch and had a brief conversation with, but didn’t know very well. Within a few days, he was filming in Italy. Although he assures that he felt very well accompanied and that filming in Italy feels like being at home, he had almost no time to get into the role of Father Sal Tedeschi. “The great challenge of the character is that he started his career in the world of science and then entered the world of faith. What moved the character forward was finding the middle ground between those two worlds,” he commented.

It’s a film that Sydney Sweeney has been pushing for years, and she confesses that the production work has been a great learning experience. “I enjoy the process, but they are very different jobs. When acting, I can build the world of a character, and it’s something very creative where I use my imagination. To produce, you have to build the entire world, not just the character,” she said. Meanwhile, Morte, who gained worldwide recognition for his role as the professor in Money Heist, expressed his admiration for Sweeney’s production work, citing her seriousness and commitment.
