Index – Domestic – 750 million forints worth of drugs were seized by the police in Budapest

The Emergency Police National Investigation Bureau (KR NNI) raided a Serbian-Hungarian criminal organization operating in Budapest, and found 750 million forints worth of amphetamine oil, marijuana, hashish and cocaine in several properties. KR NNI announced on Thursday the police.hu page that they have been investigating an international drug-trafficking criminal organization since the summer of 2023.

“The investigators arrested a Serbian man at the Röszke-Horgos border crossing on March 11,” they added. The investigators searched three properties in the capital connected to the man, searched two apartments and a garage, and the garage in Árnyas Street hid drugs worth more than HUF 600 million:

more than 20 liters of amphetamine oil and nearly 90 kilograms of marijuana.

Then, on April 7, a Hungarian and two Serbian men were arrested in Budapest: the Hungarian man in the XIII., one Serbian in the XI., and his companion in the V. district. “The capture of the two Serbian men was carried out by the operations units of the Counter-Terrorism Center,” they wrote.

During the search of their properties, the investigators found several kilograms of hashish and cocaine, as well as press and foil machines, digital scales, and plastic bags. The investigators seized a total of 27 kilograms of drugs from the three men, the black market value of which is nearly HUF 150 million, the announcement reads.

The police suspected the arrested criminals of drug trafficking, and all four are currently under arrest. They also announced that one of their Hungarian colleagues managed to escape from the authorities and is currently in an unknown location, which is why domestic, international and European arrest warrants have been issued against him.
