ICJ holds hearing on police assault on the Mexican embassy in Quito

Just a few days later, on April 11, the Mexican authorities filed a complaint against the government of Ecuador before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for “the flagrant violation of the inviolability of the Embassy, against the physical and moral integrity of diplomats.”

Ecuadorian authorities accuse the former vice president of an alleged crime of embezzlement of public funds for the reconstruction work in the province of Manabí after a strong earthquake in 2016, which left more than 670 dead.
