Commemorative events related to the end of World War II were held in a number of places on Wednesday. For example, people had free entry to the Czechoslovak Fortification Area in Hlučín-Darkovičky, where enthusiasts in military uniforms from the First Republic talked about life in bunkers.
Visitors could see the most famous infantry blockhouse MO-S 19 Alej and other interesting objects. The guides also showed them the original things that the soldiers were packing at the time. On display was, among other things, a period bottle of rum (empty).

“Each soldier packed half a tin of rum a day. Not because of morality, but because of the experience,” explained the man in uniform, who also mentioned the then-popular kofilo chocolate. “It contained caffeine, which was supposed to excite the soldiers,” he added. On Wednesday, the MO – S 20 Orel infantry blockhouse was also exceptionally opened for an hour.
