How to avoid getting sick in low temperatures

Autumn has arrived and in a couple of months winter begins. Temperatures have already begun to drop and it is common for health of people are affected by typical respiratory diseases, such as a cold and the flu.

And it is that Cold breezes can affect the respiratory tract. This was stated by the bronchopulmonary specialist Pedro Astudillo of the India Clinic to Meganoticias.

“The cold always causes the defense mechanisms of the respiratory tract to deteriorate a little, “So any bug that is out there, any virus, can affect us.”

So is there anything we can do to avoid getting sick?

How to avoid getting sick in low temperatures, according to a doctor

Dr. Astudillo indicated that “although we have not reached the peak of winter, we are already much higher than what we had in the summer. “On a step that, without being at the peak, we have more respiratory diseases.”

But, Are changes in temperature what cause us to catch a cold? For the doctor, this is “absolutely a myth. If there is no virus, nothing happens with temperature changes.”

What does happen is that “with the cold weather, if there is an infectious agent, it takes advantage of that. “Especially from the cold, the pollution, and that’s why you get sicker.”

This is why, in addition to having a balanced diet, you can try to avoid a cold with the following technique.

Astudillo recommended covering your nose, mouth and neck when going out into a cold environment, “because you filter the temperatures. Also, it is always better to breathe through your nose, because it makes the air enter, circulate through the cavities, warm, clean and moisten, and it enters the respiratory tract in a different way than if we breathe through the mouth, which enters directly.”
