A house which boasts ‘the best lawn in the UK’ is on sale for £5million. 

The stunning Edwardian home, known as Great David’s, is located in the quaint hamlet of Kingwood in Oxfordshire. 

It boasts six bedrooms, three bathrooms as well as tennis courts and a swimming pool.  

However the pièce de résistance of the house is the immaculate gardens and grounds which are surrounded by open farmland and pockets of privately owned beech woodland.

Great David's was built by the Maxwell family in 1909, and offers 5,339sq ft of accommodation on three floors, including a large reception hall, drawing room, wood-panelled dining room, and a comfortable snug that leads into a Smallbone-designed family kitchen

Since then it has been maintained by by professional greenkeepers. Every July it is used by the country’s leading players – including a former world champion – for a private tournament. 

Nick Warner from Knight Frank, who is handling the sale said: ‘In 30 years of selling wonderful country houses, never have I seen a professionally kept tournament standard croquet lawn alongside other great sporting amenities too.’
