He Governor of Oaxaca Salomón Jara Cruz visited the Head of the Vatican StateYour Holiness Pope Francis in a private meeting, where he took the opportunity to invite you to visit the state of Oaxaca and know the cultural wealth it has.
During the audience held in the Apostolic Palace of the Vatican, The state president gave the pontiff a guayaberaamong other articles specific to the various regions of the entity.
In the meeting with the Supreme Pontiff, The Governor of Oaxaca addressed issues of common interest such as emigration, the fight against povertyamong others.
There was also an exchange of opinions on topics related to regional and national current events in the country.
The Oaxacan president expressed the importance of fight for respect and dignity towards indigenous peoples, through spaces for intercultural dialogue and fully recognize identity, language, traditions and heritage.
“I let him know that in Oaxaca we began the path to transform the historical relationships marked by discrimination and exclusion,” he said.
Jara Cruz recalled that the Head of the Catholic Church has asked for forgiveness for crimes against indigenous peoples during evangelization in Mexico.
“He has been humble, self-critical and has put highly relevant issues on the public agenda such as the denunciation of poverty, inequality and the concentration of wealth in a few hands,” he emphasized.
