Fuel prices broke the downward trend that they have maintained for three consecutive months and they rose in the last week 1.64% in the case of diesel and 0.95% in that of gasoline, returning to the levels of a month ago.
Specifically, diesel was paid on average at 1,383 euros per liter and gasoline at 1,495 eurosaccording to the Petroleum Bulletin of the European Union (EU), which collects data from 11,400 Spanish service stations between October 8 and 14.
In this way, gasoline ended the path of thirteen consecutive declines which began the week of last July 8, when it cost an average of 1,626 euros per liter.
Diesel also did the same, which, despite the fact that seven days ago it had repeated the price of the previous day, before that it had chained eleven falls in a row since July 15.
Gasoline has not been this expensive since the week of September 16when it cost 1,502 euros per liter; while diesel was not since last September 9, when it was paid at 1,406 euros.
Prices below historical levels
Despite the increase in the last week, the price of diesel is 1.6% cheaper than a month ago and that of gasoline is 2.3% lower. If compared to prices from a year ago, that of diesel is 17.8% lower and that of gasoline, 13%.
When reviewing average fuel prices early 2024 and compare them with the most current data, both also have lower costs, with gasoline being 2.6% lower and diesel 7.4% lower.
From the all-time highs recorded in June 2022when prices skyrocketed following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the average cost of gasoline is now almost 23% lower and that of diesel is 27.2% lower.
On the other hand, for another week fuel prices in Spain were below the EU averagewhere gasoline stood at 1,645 euros per liter and diesel at 1,536 euros.
