Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, who play the witches Elphaba and Glinda in the musical “Wicked”.
CINEMA – This time, the promotion hits the mark. After having suffered violent criticism for having marketed Mattel dolls including the boxes linked to a pornographic sitethe musical Wicked offered himself a flawless promotion in Mexico.
The cast of the film, which will be released in theaters in early December, set down in the Mexican capital this Monday, November 11, for a preview of this new adaptation of the hit musical inspired by the world of the land of Oz. And who says preview, necessarily says red carpet.
A step that the “good witch of the South” and the “wicked witch of the West”, respectively played by the actresses, have clearly not neglected Ariana Grande And Cynthia Erivo. With a special mention for the latter, more than frightening in the outfit she chose for the occasion.
A long black dress, slightly shiny up to the chest, the main feature of which is to be decorated with two hooked hands at shoulder level. For a guaranteed thrill, even on a red carpet. Especially since the actress wore particularly impressive mismatched nails on her real hands, reinforcing the evil side of her outfit made by the Thom Browne brand.
Margaret Hamilton in the spotlight
Quite the opposite of Ariana Grande, therefore, in her shimmering pinkish white Versace dress, designed especially for the occasion. For his part, actor Jonathan Bailey (aka Fiyero Tigelaar in the film) opted for a relatively casual style.
Very noticed with her black outfit, Cynthia Erivo chose to pay a beautiful tribute to her character of Elphaba, a witch with a green complexion who inspired a whole part of the modern imagination. And the ultimate sign of the tribute to her character, Cynthia Erivo had fun reproducing in this outfit the iconic pose of the actress Margaret Hamilton, the mythical incarnation of the “ Wicked Witch of the West ” In The Wizard of Oz from 1939, with Julie Garland.
The movie Wickedplanned in two parts, adapts the first act of the famous Broadway show which imagines the past of the two witches in the land of Oz, many years before the young orphan Dorothy lands in this wonderful land. Disney’s latest musical comedy on the big screen is expected on December 4 in French cinemas.
