Türk Gücü Friedberg is surprisingly in the Hessen Cup final

The Friedbergers celebrate their victory over Kassel in the Hessen Cup semi-finals.

For Türk Gücü Friedberg and Kickers Offenbach, the final big highlight of the season is coming up at the end of May with the final of the Hessen Cup. Whoever prevails in this duel will also qualify for the DFB Cup and can expect a bonus of around 200,000 euros.

It is already club history for the Wetterauers, because the Friedbergers have never been in the final of the Hessen Cup. A spokesman for the club told hr-sport that the game was “the biggest in the club’s history.” For the OFC, however, it is the last chance to put a conciliatory end to a mediocre season.

The Hessen Cup final will take place on Saturday, May 25th at 4:45 p.m. The venue is the stadium on Bornheimer Hang in Frankfurt. The regional football team FSV Frankfurt and the Frankfurt Galaxy footballers usually play their home games there.

The Hessen Cup final is hosted by the Hessian Football Association. The game is part of the “Amateur Final Day”. A total of 21 state cup finals will take place on this day.

Clearly the Offenbacher Kickers. The regional league team plays a league higher than Friedberger, who are currently fighting for promotion in the upper league. The last meeting between the two clubs was a friendly in February. The OFC clearly won 3-0.
The last meeting in a competitive game was in November 2022. The Kickers also prevailed in the round of 16 of the Hessen Cup (3:1).

But: Offenbach has had a mediocre regional league season. And: In the semi-finals of the Hessen Cup the Friedbergers surprisingly eliminated the favorites KSV Hessen Kassel. Again the North Hessians were able to defeat the Kickers Most recently in the league with 2:1 hit on the Bieberer Berg.

The Bornheimer Hang is likely to be more crowded than it has been for a long time. Türk Gücü Friedberg is expecting around 1,000 fans to come to Frankfurt. You will find your place in the stadium on the side where the home fans of FSV Frankfurt normally stand.

The OFC, for its part, is expecting 6,000 fans who will probably support the Kickers loudly again. They stand on the opposite side of the stadium behind the goal. The Offenbachers know the place well from their previous regional league games with FSV.

In total, the Bornheimer Hang offers space for around 12,500 spectators. Whether the game will be sold out in the end probably depends on how many neutral fans come.

HR television will broadcast the game live and in full length from 4:45 p.m. The commentator is Martina Knief.

In addition, the final day of the amateurs will also be shown on ARD in a large conference circuit. Florian Naß will comment on the Hessian duel there for you.
