While Blake Shelton might be one of the biggest country stars around, he’s never forgotten where he came from.
The “Honey Bee” hitmaker paid a visit to Ada High School in Ada, Oklahoma on Monday, October 14, where he shared that he is partnering with the organization Music Will to provide music students with new equipment, instruments, and resources.
“I wanted to come up and be a part of this because I think this is a really cool opportunity for any of you students out here that are interested in music,” Shelton said. “Whether it’s a career path for you, something that you want to pursue, or you just want to learn how to play the guitar. Thank you to Music Will for what we’re doing here today.”
Shelton shared a video montage of his day on his Instagram page, on which, Music Will commented, thanking him for his support.
“Thank you, Blake for believing in the power of music education,” the organization wrote. “We can’t wait to see how these students and their communities thrive!”
The comments were also filled with fans, who expressed gratitude and excitement for Shelton’s contributions to his alma mater — from which, he graduated in 1994.
“You’ve always been a great mentor for kids and music,” wrote one fan.
Another wrote, thanking Shelton for his “Precious gifts!!!” and saif the action was “So cool and so is Blake!!!!!”
“I love that you are still so humble even with all of your success,” said another fan. “You are a great role model to young people, and a few of us older folks too!!”
Shelton has been spending a lot of time in his home state lately. Back in August, he supported his stepson, Zuma, as he performed in an Oklahoma bar, owned by Shelton.
Shelton and his wife, singer Gwen Stefani, split their time between in homes in Tishomingo, Oklahoma and Los Angeles, California. The two got married in 2021, and Shelton is the stepfather of Stefani’s children — Kingston, 18; Zuma, 16; and Apollo, 10 — all of whom, she shares with ex-husband, Gavin Rossdale.
