Falabella Retail launches its Sustainability Report and defines goals in its different pillars by 2030

A review of the main milestones that Falabella Retail had in 2023 was announced by the corporate general manager, Francisco Irarrázaval, within the framework of the launch of the Sustainability Report, an instance in which the progress of the year and goals to be achieved by 2030 were detailed. each of the pillars of the area: +Green, Local Development, and Agile Talent and Culture.

The executive highlighted the work of the teams from Chile, Peru and Colombia that demonstrated their capacity for collaborative work, resilience and commitment. “This with the objective of continuing to be pioneers in the sector and always having the latest, first in Falabella, in order to deliver a memorable experience to our more than 15 million customers, whom we seek to surprise daily,” he stated.

Irarrázaval also commented that, in line with permanently strengthening the experience, investments were made at the logistical level. “Among them, a new 26,000 m² distribution center in Chile that makes the operation more efficient by consolidating different categories in one place. We also inaugurated a robotic warehouse in Lo Espejo, allowing us to increase our storage capacity and increase the dispatch capacity of small products purchased in our e-commerce by more than 50%. Added to this was the progress of the new distribution center in Colombia, which begins operating in the third quarter of 2024, being one of the most advanced in Latin America,” he commented.

Regarding the main achievements in its sustainability strategy, the +Green pillar, it addressed the progress that occurred around the initiative “Give fashion a second life.” At Taller F, a space that offers the option to repair, reuse and recycle clothing with a seal of customization, had positive growth, with more than 70,000 services in the 17 workshops in Chile, Peru and Colombia. By 2030, it is expected that 40% of its stores will have this clothing transformation corner. Meanwhile, in the 13 Barter Fairs that took place in 2023, in the three countries, more than 60,000 items of clothing were exchanged.

In Local Talent, the company continued to promote emerging artists and designers in order to open spaces for entrepreneurship and support their visibility, developing collaborations with more than 40 of them. This work was complemented with the commitment to contribute to social projects. Among them, the Fuertes & Fantásticas program in Chile and Colombia stood out, which helps the process of women’s labor insertion. In fact, through this initiative, 50% of the participants obtained employment and as a goal of 2030, the company hopes to employ 32% of the program participants annually.

For its part, the company’s Doing School Program, which has been running for more than 50 years, closed 2023 with more than 94,000 students benefiting, belonging to 105 establishments in Chile, Peru and Colombia. During the year, efforts were made to continue strengthening student learning from four axes: academic advising, broadening horizons, digital infrastructure and accessibility, and community relations.

This work went hand in hand with strengthening Talent and promoting an Agile Culture, in line with the third pillar focused on the development of collaborators and the strengthening of leadership, equity and inclusion. One of the goals is to achieve 40% of women occupying Middle Management positions and 30% in Top Management positions, as well as to certify in Chile, the management model of gender equality and reconciliation of work, family and personal life in headquarters and in half of its stores by 2030, while in Colombia it seeks to have the Friendly Biz certification in 2024.

In the opinion of Francisco Irarrázaval, “each of these new steps that we took in 2023 was thanks to the great team at Falabella Retail, made up of more than 24 thousand collaborators, with whom we work daily to offer the best experience to customers, expanding the impact positive of our operations in order to contribute to a better future for all.”
