Expert Voráček entertains the audience. I have to realize I’m not at home on the couch, he said

Health problems caused by repeated concussions prevented him from participating in the World Hockey Championship in the Czech Republic. The 34-year-old striker, who admitted that he will most likely never play again, is enjoying the championship in a new role. Together with Robert Záruba, he comments on the match as an expert on Czech television. And the head of the Kladno native is showered with praise from all sides.

The television channel ČT Sport even published on its account on the social network X after Monday’s match between the Czech Republic and Switzerland a montage of Vořáček’s best comments in the role of an expert.

“Now we have to squeeze the four minutes of the Swiss, get into their third and bake them… on the baking sheet,” Voráček amused the viewers of Czech Television after Matěj Stránský equalized the score in the second period in a power play.

It was the scorer of the only Czech goal from the game that took over the number 93 on the jersey from the former national team captain. “I’ll jump back a bit and just want to thank Matěj Stránské with number 93 for scoring a goal, because my mom is at the first match since I started in Finland, so at least she can have a bit of déjà vu,” added the Kladno pupil after the goal to 1:1.

He won the audience of Czech Television with his immediacy and sincerity. But he had to restrain himself at times, for example when he disagreed with the punishment for Michal Kempný. “I have to realize that I’m not at home on the couch. I’m a bit emotional in these situations,” Voráček apologized immediately.

A thirty-four-year-old forward who is already alone admitted that he would most likely never start the match, can benefit from his rich gaming experience in the role of an expert. After all, he played more than 1,000 games for Columbus and Philadelphia in the NHL alone. He can now share his experiences with the audience.

“When I scolded him in the NHL, he always answered me in Czech,” said Voráček about the Swiss forward with Czech roots, Kevin Fiala, who scored from the game and from a separate attack against the Czech Republic.

The Czech Republic is aiming for another audience record. Hats off, fans

And as it turns out, people like such observations and statements. “I enjoy this style of commenting, so great!” wrote one user on the X network. “Voras is a great addition, I hope he continues as a commentator in the future,” added another. “They were both excellent yesterday,” added another user, who did not forget to praise Czech TV star Robert Záruba.

Voráček was also able to flood him during the transmission. “How do you say momentum in Czech?” he asked an experienced commentator during one of his evaluations. “I apologize to the TV viewers, sometimes I can’t do it,” he sprinkled ash on his head.

At the first listen, it must be obvious to everyone that there is perfect chemistry between Záruba and Voráček on the commentary stand. “He’s a terrible fan of the sport. Superstitious about paper types, he carries a printer and really spends an awful lot of time on preparation. I’m a complete freestyler. It can relax him a little,” said Voráček about working with the Czech commentary legend in the Puk Pak Pivo podcast.

Positive feedback during the world championship can please Czech television. Especially considering that the World Cup has been rather dark for her so far – expert Milan Antoš ended up in hospital after an accident on a scooter reporter Michal Dimitrov, who was injured while inline skating, also dropped out of the public television team.
