O Palm trees was defeated by Red Bull Bragantino last Sunday in the Brasileirão Série A and could be even further away from the fight for the leadership of the tournament. But despite the result, there were some points to celebrate, such as Endrick’s return to the net.
The striker scored the Palmeiras goal in the match, being selected as a starter by Abel Ferreira in the match against Massa Bruta. This made the fans’ requests for the player to have a better chance of being a starter increase, even more so with the match on Thursday (5) against Boca Juniors in the Libertadores, approaching.
But the Throw! points out a fact that may go ‘against’ the desire of Verdão fans: number 9 has never started a match in the South American competition as a starter, and of the 11 matches the team played in the tournament, he only played in four of them, the Lastly, the draw in the first game against the Argentines.
In most of Palmeiras’ games, Endrick started as a substitute and came on or even left the bench or was mentioned by Abel. Given the offensive problems caused by Dudu’s injury, the request by Cria da Academia is a wish from the fans, who hoped to see the team with more offensive strength than the coach’s current tactics, who prefers an original full-back (Mayke) in the offensive trio.
Of the four games he played for Verdão in the Libertadores, the striker scored just one goal, this against Barcelona-EQU. The Palmeiras coach, however, has avoided such ‘pressure’ to select Endrick and generally keeps him in reserve, even in the Brasileirão Série A, when on several occasions he also preferred Mayke or other athletes in the offensive sector.
Until Wednesday (4), Abel will be able to decide whether he will pay attention to the fans or whether he will continue to give chances to other alviverdes players in the sector for the ‘confrontation’ of the year against Boca Juniors at Allianz Parque.
