Emmanuel Macron was not the first to enter the cathedral during his visit

PARIS – The Head of State had given himself the challenge of having the cathedral rebuilt in 5 years. This Friday, November 29, he is coming to see the extent of the renovations carried out at Notre Dame during a final visit before reopening to the general public. Welcomed on the square in front of the cathedral before entering the interior, it is nevertheless not Emmanuel Macron who was the first to pass through the front door.

He is the Archbishop of Paris Laurent Ulrich who had this honor, as you can see in the images below. In France, it is the Church, represented this Friday by Laurent Ulrich, which remains the appointee of Notre-Dame de Paris. And even after the fire of April 15, 2019, this assignment did not stop during the work.

“We have a special regime in France with the law of 1905”specifies France 2 during its live broadcast. This law allows the separation of Church and State and lays the foundations of the principle of secularism still in force in France. “The State owns the cathedrals, the municipalities own the churches and then the Catholic cult is the owner and therefore master of what happens inside the building,” adds the string.

This Friday, Emmanuel Macron, accompanied by his wife Brigitte, visits the interior of Notre-Dame, the first images of which are broadcast live. The opportunity for viewers to rediscover the famous Paris monument whose stones have regained their former color, even though they had not been cleaned since the end of the 19th century.

The Head of State and viewers can now admire the nave, the transept crossing, the choir frame identically redone in solid oak, but also the Saint-Marcel chapel, which has regained its luster for the occasion.
