Eintracht offensive is lame: Chaibi and Marmoush are weak | hessenschau.de

Although Hugo Ekitiké proves what he can do, Frankfurt Eintracht’s offensive is weak. This also has to do with fluctuations in the form of the two buddies Omar Marmoush and Fares Chaibi.

End of the video post

Omar Marmoush is having the season of his life. Eintracht Frankfurt’s most successful goalscorer, 16 goals, eleven of them in the league. In addition, he is often the best man among the Hessian footballers. And then it all came so unexpectedly, hardly anyone, probably not even himself, would have expected this positive development from the former Wolfsburg substitute striker at the start of the season.

But that, and this is also part of the truth, is stalling. Marmoush is still one of Eintracht’s top performers, but he is currently not reaching his level from the first half of the season. In the second half of the season, which began for the Egyptian international with a moderately successful Africa Cup of Nations and subsequent illness, he only scored four league goals. Including negative trend. In the last nine games he only managed one goal Mijat Gacinovic Memorial Booth in stoppage time against Augsburg. An emotional moment, but not a decisive one.

A ball that only the safety net saves

Finally there is this one Missed shot against Leverkusen, the 25-year-old shot the ball over the box and into the safety net. And if that hadn’t been tense, you know, the ball would probably have had to be collected in the forest parking lot.

Nobody at Eintracht is angry with him about this, and rightly so, of course. Lows in form are there to come out of them stronger. And they are basically logical for a busy man like Marmoush, who has already played 51 games in this round (including international matches). The problems are worth mentioning because some offensive colleagues do the same.

Not Hugo Ekitiké, The (finally) fit striker colleague is just getting started. But others. For example Fares Chaibi, Frankfurt’s new Habibi, like The hr-sport headline was euphoric last year.

Apparently popular with young fans: Fares Chaibi and Omar Marmoush.

Chaibi seems weak and uninspired

The Algerian, who calls Marmoush, who lives in his neighborhood, his “big brother”, recently hit the cross against Leverkusen to equalize, and he also had a dangerous finish. All in all, the game designer’s appearances in the second series seem dull, weak, and uninspired.

The early exit from the Africa Cup with Algeria took a toll on Chaibi mentally, and the fasting month of Ramadan took a toll on him physically, although the player said in a media round on Thursday that he had only played a game once without eating. Nevertheless: “I’ve been getting back into the rhythm for a few weeks now,” says Chaibi.

The 21-year-old, undoubtedly a gifted kicker and a clever player with the ball, currently does not use his technical skills profitably too often. On top of that, he is not one of the hardest-working Frankfurt footballers when it comes to defensive behavior. Overall, Chaibi can still be happy with his performance. He also says himself: “New country, new league, new competitions – a lot is changing. So I’m satisfied overall.”

Too many professionals stagnate in their development

While Chaibi had eight assists in all competitions in the first half of the season, which is a good number, he has added four since the turn of the year. Okay, but could be improved. This is one of several problems at Eintracht, that of the stagnating or declining development of some professionals.

Marmoush should be mentioned (at a high level), Chaibi as well, Niels Nkounkou and Eric Dina Ebimbe, even highly gifted players like Hugo Larsson or Willian Pacho performed worse than in the first half of the season. Something that coach Dino Toppmöller has to take credit for. Even if in the end it is enough for the flattering qualification for the Europa League or – even more grotesquely – the Champions League.

The game on Saturday (3:30 p.m.) in Mönchengladbach is therefore “perhaps the most important game of the season” for Chaibi. Finally, sixth place should be secured. The fact that this could even be enough for a premier class ticket elicits a smile from the Algerian who was asked about it. “Football is crazy.”

Statistics reveal: Less dangerous than in the first half of the season

Back to the offensive: For a long time there was hope that a second striker alongside Marmoush would allow Eintracht to rise to higher levels. Chaibi as an assist provider, Marmoush and Ekitiké as a strike pair driving each other. Sounded good, rarely got caught.

The statistics serve as proof: At the same time in the first half of the season, Frankfurt had not only collected more points than in the second half of the season (21 to 18), but also scored more goals (24 to 21). At that time, Toppmöller only had one striker suitable for the first division, one in top form: Omar Marmoush played the half series of his life.
