Eintracht Frankfurt Women: Celebrate again until the Champions League |

In what is perhaps the most important Bundesliga game of the year, the Eintracht Frankfurt footballers remain ice cold. The Champions League qualification can no longer be taken away from the Hessians, but it has to be done perfectly in front of the home fans.

Nicole Anyomi led the way. As in the game at TSG Hoffenheim, when the Eintracht Frankfurt striker scored a brace for the guests (35th, 47th), Anyomi was also the focus of the celebration after the final whistle. The numerous fans who came along jumped, sang and danced. According to the match winner, that was just a foretaste. “If we get three points against Freiburg, then we will definitely celebrate,” announced the national striker.

First a few ball losses, then focus

The Eintracht Frankfurt women are preparing to qualify for the Champions League for the third time in a row. The 3-1 win over pursuers Hoffenheim can confidently be described as a preliminary decision in the race for third place, which qualifies for exactly that. The Hessians were more focused in the showdown on Saturday than they have rarely been this season.

After an open start, it was full-back Pia-Sophie Wolter who brought the game to the visitors’ side with her first goal for Eintracht (17′). “There were a few ball losses at the beginning, and Gia Corley also had a chance. But overall we had the game under control and scored some nice goals,” said coach Niko Arnautis, summing up the game succinctly.

The next party under floodlights?

Anyomi scored the best shortly after the break. Her shot from around 20 meters fit perfectly into the right angle (47th). TSG goalkeeper Martina Tufekovic could only watch in amazement. It was the exclamation point behind a real statement victory. Vanessa Leimenstoll’s consolation goal in stoppage time didn’t change anything (90th + 3).

In the table Eintracht distanced TSG by four points. With two games left in the season, the Hessian formula for success is clear: A home win against Freiburg on Monday in a week (May 13th, 7:30 p.m.) and the Champions League can come. The party with the fans should then be a lot bigger than on Saturday at TSG Hoffenheim. Nicole Anyomi will take care of that.
