Eating with a person who makes noise when chewing can be one of the most unpleasant situations for those who feel especially bothered by these sounds. While it is true that it may seem like a mania of those who cannot stand it, it has very little to do with that, since it has a medical explanation.
One of the most followed pharmacists in TikTok@farmaceutico_enfurÃdo, has uploaded a video to his account in which, in a humorous way, explains why the typical discomfort occurs that many feel when hearing someone chewing.
“Are you really bothered by the noise people make when they chew? But not a normal nuisance, an irritation that makes you angry?“, the pharmacist began by asking at the beginning of the video, which already has one million views and more than 16,000 likes.
Later, the content creator revealed that if this happens to you, it is not because you are a manic person but because you have a disorder. “It’s called misophonia and it is the extreme irritation at the sounds of everyday life,” explained the pharmacist.
“The most common is the noise of eating, but it can also be the clicking of a pen or the ticking of a clock, even someone breathing hard“, continued explaining the professional, who assures that there is no cure for this disorder that 5% of the population suffers from.
The video has managed to accumulate more than 500 comments with very diverse opinions. Coral Guerrera, one of the users who has dared to comment, has asked the pharmacist to send the video to her mother, “Let’s see if that’s how you understand it.”
For his part, user Enrique Corral has published another comment that has received more than 700 likes due to its content. “The bad thing is that it is not a simple annoyance, but, at least in my caseit makes me angry and accelerates my breathing. I feel the incredible need to silence that noise in any way,” he said.
