The striker suffered a knee injury in a game against Tottenham and was substituted in the first half. Wolverhampton won the match 1-0. According to the British newspaper daily mail, this may have been Diego Costa’s last game for Wolves. During his time at the English club, the 34-year-old striker did not score a single goal.

Costa, who had not played for two months due to another injury, was replaced in the 28th minute of the first half by Raul Jimenez.

Wolverhampton’s attack situation is difficult. Another Brazilian, also center forward Matheus Cunha, was injured in a game against Fulham – he returned in the game against Tottenham, but is still not 100%. The team also lost Hugo Bueno, who suffered an injury in a game against Liverpool.

Bueno, in turn, is in the medical department along with Boubacar, Traore, Chiquinho, Sasa Kalajdzic and Hwang Hee-chan, all recovering from injuries, some of them more serious, as is the case with Chiquinho and Kalajdzic.

With 16 games in the season, Costa, who still hasn’t scored a goal, had been in the team’s starting lineup in the game against Aston Villa, on January 4, 2023. The game against Tottenham marked the striker’s return to the pitch.

In the past, the striker has suffered from knee injuries. This new injury should, according to the British newspaper The Sun, probably keep Costa away from the fields again for a long period.
