Director Shawn Levy is looking to follow up the success of Marvel Studios’ smash hit superhero blockbuster Deadpool & Wolverine by reuniting with its two stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman for a new project.
The news was revealed by Ryan Reynolds during Variety’s Awards Circuit Podcast (via Dark Horizons), with Reynolds stating that he plans on “spending the year writing… I’m writing a movie for myself, Hugh [Jackman] and Shawn [Levy] to do that is not Marvel.”
Reynolds is beginning to form a regular partnership with filmmaker Levy, the pair having collaborated on Free Guy, The Adam Project and Deadpool & Wolverine in recent years. Should the project come to fruition, it would also mark Jackman’s third pairing with the director after the Marvel blockbuster and 2011’s Real Steal.

Levy is yet to lock in his next feature directorial project after Deadpool & Wolverine, although he has helmed an episode of next year’s final season of Stranger Things, which he also executive produces. The filmmaker is also attached to helm a Star Wars project for Disney and Lucasfilm, which picked up a writer back in July, and it was announced last year that he would be teaming with Reynolds to produce a comedy entitled Boy Band.Â
