Danica Patrick has built on her racing career, now stepping into the world of politics with a first for the former driver: she has taken part in a presidential election and cast her vote for Donald Trump. Known for her distinguished career in both NASCAR and IndyCar, Patrick’s choice of vote has garnered plenty of attention.
For Patrick, this step comes after a time of personal reflection. Over recent months, Patrick has openly shared her struggles with being involved in politics, with her only recently pushing herself to be more vocal about her beliefs.
Through a social post published yesterday, the former driver confirmed that she had voted for the first time:
“I voted today, for the first time.” She further affirmed her vote for Trump with a belief in the former president’s vision for America.

“I made a rule for myself that if I didn’t vote I could not have an opinion about the outcome, because I didn’t earn that right. Not this time. I voted for @realdonaldtrump and I can’t wait to have him make America great again!
“Thank you @stephalvorson for walking me through the process! Anyone that knows what to do…. Help them vote and vote early!”
Positioning herself slightly right of center, the racing veteran describes her political stance as lying somewhere between Republican and Independent, via The Spun.
“Here is where I stand with SOME current issues and politics. I am not a liberal. I am somewhere between republican and independent. I think our country should be run by someone that knows business and has integrity,” Patrick commented. “I believe we should be able to speak freely.”
Historically, her racing ventures consumed much of her time and energy, leaving little room for politics. Known for being the only woman to win an IndyCar race, Patrick focused intensely on her performance on the track throughout her career. However, the beginning of 2024 saw a change for her, as she began consuming news regularly, a change that saw her forming an opinion on who she wanted to run the country.
She recently attended America Fest in Phoenix last December, a conservative event featuring the likes of Tucker Carlson and Donald Trump Jr. Reflecting on her experiences, Patrick said the following:
“I love this country, and I have lived in other places. I believe when people of different opinions speak face to face, we realize we are more similar than different.”
