However, compared to August of last year, the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) reported that the sector reported an increase of 23.34 percent, supported mainly by the public sector.
Although the sector kept the value of its production unchanged in August, the entity maintained leadership at the national level, having the largest contribution to the country’s total, contributing 11.1 percent of the total value, slightly less than the contribution of July, which was 11.2 percent.
Sector analysts pointed out that by practically concluding the work at the Dos Bocas refinery, in Tabasco, and reducing activity on the Mayan Train, in the southeast of the country, Nuevo León has recovered its leading role in national construction.
Thus, after several months in which the public sector had registered a weak performance, in August it showed an important recovery, developing projects for 722.63 million pesos, an increase of 60.29 percent, in August pesos, compared to the eighth month of last year and 31.57 percent when compared to the previous month.
“The investments that the state government is making in the area of mobility, mainly in the various Metro lines, led it to register the largest investment for a month since November 2020, when it invested 876.9 million pesos,” indicated an analyst.
For its part, the private sector had a negative performance compared to July, reporting a 2.94 percent drop in the value of its projects, going from 5,871 million pesos to 5,698 million pesos between both months.
In annual terms, the public sector registered an increase of 60.29 percent, while the private sector 19.84 percent, both maintaining the positive trend reported in July.
By segment, Building remained the most important in the sector, developing projects for 3,400 million pesos, which implies a monthly increase of 1.82 percent and an annual increase of 34.39 percent, and contributing 53 percent of the value. total generated in the entity.
