MEDIA – For several days, Christophe Hondelatte has suffered what he describes as “a lynching” which pushes him to explain himself. In question, a sequence on the set of the show C the weekly broadcast on November 23 during which he spoke alongside the mother of young Lola. The journalist spoke about the alleged murderer and the importance of AME (State Medical Aid). Comments for which he was strongly criticized on social networks but also on the set of TPMP, Cyril Hanouna’s show.

During the show, Lola’s mother returned to the murder of her daughter on October 14, 2022. After talking about this tragic day, she spoke about the trial of the alleged murderer to come and what she hopes remove it, or not. “ We don’t know if we will have all the answers, if she will speak, we will see the big day. But we will always ask ourselves the question “Why Lola?” ”, she asked herself on France 5.

The journalists on set then discussed the psychiatric profile of the suspect. A woman for whom experts judged that there was a “social pathology deeming it dangerous” but no pathology making her irresponsible for her actions. Christophe Hondelatte then explained the term “psychopath” which qualifies the alleged murderer, emphasizing her proven dangerousness. He also raised the possibility that on the day of the trial, Lola’s parents would not obtain answers to their questions given the state of medication in which the defendant will find herself.

He then explained why, in his opinion, this affair “ largely taken over by the far right » at the time of the events, was proof that the AME was essential in France. “ This is proof that State Medical Aid is very useful. It would have been ideal for this undocumented woman to be treated in psychiatric wards, for her to take medication that works well. “, he said.

Christophe Hondelatte criticized in TPMP

This sequence was widely shared on social networks, but not only that. In his show TPMP on Monday, November 25, Cyril Hanouna returned with his columnists to these comments. Christophe Hondelatte was openly and almost unanimously criticized on the set of C8, accused of having shown “ indecency » in « making the murderer look like a victim » in front of Lola’s mother.

Several speakers pointed out the fact that the alleged murderer was subject to an obligation to leave the territory (OQTF) which should deprive her of the AME. “ The only thing to say to Lola’s mother is that the OQTF have nothing to do in France “, then affirmed the host himself. Following what he describes as “two days of lynching” which, coincidentally or not, directly followed the diffusion of TPMPChristophe Hondelatte spoke on X this Wednesday, November 27.

After highlighting the violence of the comments he received and pointing the finger at “ the Twitter algorithm… a place that has truly become disgusting and overrun with bastards », the creator of Bring in the Accused returned to the sequence deemed problematic.

It thus emphasizes the “edited” aspect of the sequence, cut and reshared without context. “ I invite you to go watch the replay of the entire show! You will see that the attitude you attribute to me towards Lola’s mother is very, very far from reality. “, he assures.

Soon a trial for the alleged murderer

As the government website specifies, the AME “is a system allowing foreigners in an irregular situation to benefit from access to care. It is awarded subject to conditions of residence and resources. » It is, in fact, reserved for undocumented foreigners earning less than 10,000 euros per year. An AME saved at the last minute in the latest version of the immigration law and which the Minister of the Interior Bruno Retailleau announced he wanted to delete on TF1 a few weeks ago, saying “ I don’t want (…) that France is the most attractive country in Europe for a certain number of social benefits and access to care.

The alleged murderer of Lola, of Algerian origin, now aged 26, was subject to an obligation to leave French territory (OQTF) since August 22, 2022, that is to say two months before the facts. But as the Minister of Justice Éric Dupond-Moretti clarified at the time, the young woman was not known to the police, except for being a victim of domestic violence. His OQTF was not accompanied by an obligation to immediately leave the national territory. She admitted to the murder of the teenager while in police custody. She will be tried at the assizes on a date still unknown.
