Chilling Moment Tesla Sensors Pick Up ‘Something Suspicious’

A man from Seattle, Washington, was driving his new Tesla when, all of a sudden, the car sensors spotted something suspicious nearby, which had the poster immediately “skedaddle” from the place.

In a video shared on TikTok in July, under the username @daedalus9042, the poster says: “My Tesla spotted something suspicious.” In the viral clip, the car’s dashboard display shows the figure of a man standing behind a yard fence right by the poster’s car, facing the same direction, as if spying on him.

The poster, Steven V, who said he wished to remain anonymous, told Newsweek that, as he pulled into his driveway with his new 2024 Tesla Model 3, he saw the creepy figure and initially got quite scared.

“I thought, ‘What the heck! I better skedaddle!’ I was flabbergasted but realized that it must be a software glitch after checking there were no people there,” Steven said.

The Tesla Model 3 Owner’s Manual says that the Forward Collision Warning feature monitors the area in front of the car for the presence of vehicles and pedestrians; and, when a collision is considered likely, it will signal the driver to take action. These sensors can monitor up to 525 feet in the driver’s path.

“If immediate action is not taken when Model 3 issues a Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking (if enabled) may automatically apply the brakes if a collision is considered imminent,” the Tesla website says.

These cars, which were first released in 2008, are growing in popularity. Statista estimates that Tesla will reach $5,345 million in revenue this year, at a growth rate of 0.25 percent.

The video quickly went viral on social media, receiving over 13.5 million views and more than 189,200 likes, and the footage has divided opinions among internet viewers.

One user, Fireman38, commented: “A neighbor in their own yard. very suspicious.”

Luiselys wrote: “Meanwhile the neighbor waiting for him to leave so they don’t have to speak.”

Sarahfremstad1 posted: “Please tell me no one was there!!!!”

OffTheClock added: “Mine sees every single traffic cone accurately spaced in construction zones, but when it comes to people it’s a spiritual medium. Spirits everywhere. Give them the old timey honk and see if they jump.”
