In Guatemala, the Fuego volcano, near the capital Guatemala City and the most active in Central America, erupted on Thursday, Guatemalan authorities report. Clouds of ash were ejected from up to six kilometers high. In the nearby villages and towns, residents have been evacuated preventively.
