There are other activities to occupy your time tomorrow apart from lining up to number some boxes and get a barbecued snag.

Brisbane International Film Festival is on again and this weekend’s highlights include Anora, a debauched story set in New York City; Maria, with Angelina Jolie playing opera diva Maria Callas; and zombie kangaroo movie The Red.

Five sarcophaguses, respectfully displayed, are highlights of the Queensland Museum Kurilpa’s blockbuster Discovering Ancient Egypt exhibition, opening today.
Tamborine Mountain Scarecrow Festival also begins today, with homes and businesses displaying scarecrows to add a bit of Halloween flavour to a mountain day trip.
Speaking of which, many local parks and markets are hosting Halloween events for kids. Try the Spooktakular Saturday at Minnippi Parklands, Wynnum Halloween Parade or the Spooky Fair at Beenleigh Historical Village.
Finally, Ballistic Brewery in Salisbury is holding a Briz Chilli and Beer Fest 2024 on Sunday, with 16 stalls selling spicy food and condiments. There’ll be kids’ entertainment as well.
