Brett Lauderdale addresses Nick Khan being in attendance at GCW Bloodsport, talks booking WWE ID prospects

Nick Khan and WWE ID discussed by Lauderdale.

During the week of WrestleMania XL, Game Changer Wrestling and Josh Barnett presented Bloodsport X. WWE’s Charlie Dempsey and Shayna Baszler were a part of the card.

After the show, photos and videos began to circulate on social media of WWE President Nick Khan in attendance. There was a photo posted of Khan and GCW promoter Brett Lauderdale.

While guest appearing on Busted Open, Lauderdale talked about Khan being present and said he was a guest of Barnett’s. Lauderdale does not have any business with Khan, but their conversation/interaction was positive.

That’s my good friend. My good friend Nick. Nick Khan is cool. He was a guest of Josh Barnett’s and he came to check out Bloodsport and so many others did. He wasn’t the only high-profile individual in attendance at that event. I got to talk to him for a couple minutes and he was very complimentary and very gracious and he brought his son with him and yeah, they stayed and they watched the event and they seemed to be into it, which given the weekend, it was WrestleMania weekend, it was impressive that he was able to cut a couple of hours out to come to our event. I’m not a corporate guy. I don’t have any business with Nick Khan but, my experience was positive and yeah, of course it was cool to have him there and yeah, of course there’s a lot of people turning their heads looking to see what the hell was going on. But, he just came to check out the show.

One of the latest projects from the WWE front is their new indie wrestling development program. As of this writing, there have been a handful of independent talents that have been named as WWE ID prospects.

That topic came up when Lauderdale was asked about Jack Cartwheel being unveiled as a WWE ID talent. He confirmed that he does not have to contact WWE to book those individuals. Cartwheel is a regular for GCW.

Well first of all, Jack Cartwheel is an exceptional and unique talent, and a good person. He’s completely dedicated to his craft and he works hard and I’m not sure there’s many people out there who want it more than him so, I’m very happy for him to have this connection, and receive even more support as he continues working towards his goals. But as for this WWE ID program, I’m not sure that I know too much more about it than everybody else other than what I do know is when it comes to the talent and the people who are under this, I guess, umbrella, as it relates to us working with them or booking them, there are no restrictions, there’s no guidelines. It’s the same thing. If I wanna work with Jack Cartwheel and book him for an upcoming show, I contact Jack Cartwheel. I don’t have to contact the WWE, I don’t have to contact a middle person. It’s business as usual so, my understanding is that this is just a way for them to receive a little more support. Maybe financially and otherwise so that they can continue to remain 100 percent committed to working towards their goal and they don’t have to make as many of the sacrifices as they might otherwise have to make when you’re a free agent wrestler, working the indies, trying to pay your bills off of that which of course can be challenging. So I think this is gonna help those guys with those worries.

Circling back to Bloodsport, the next event is scheduled for November 24th and it’ll be headlined by Josh Barnett versus AEW’s MVP.
