The last round of the Brasileirão Série C will catch fire. Next weekend will define the other three classified for Series B in 2024, with six teams that remain with a chance. Brusque obtained, with two games in advance, not only mathematical access but also a place in the Third League final.
Paysandu wasted a great opportunity to be the second team promoted to Series B, in this weekend. Papão da Curuzu needed two results and neither came. There was a possibility for the Pará team to gain access without entering the field. It would be enough for Volta Redonda not to defeat Botafogo-PB away from home, at Almeidão, on Saturday (30).
However, Voltaço’s 2-1 victory meant that Paysandu had to play for just a draw with Amazonas at Mangueirão to celebrate their return to the Premier League. But everything went wrong this Sunday (01). Papão even took the lead with Mário Sérgio in the initial stage. However, Igor Bolt and Sassá (ex-Cruzeiro) resulted in a 2-1 victory for the Manaus team, postponing the Curuzu team’s access and frustrating almost 50,000 people at the Pará Olympic Stadium.
In Group C of the Brasileirão Série C, Paysandu leads with 10 points and continues to depend solely on it to move up. Papão will face, in the last round, Volta Redonda in Rio de Janeiro, needing a draw or even a defeat by a goal difference next Saturday (07). If they lose by two or more, they will need the already eliminated Botafogo-PB to beat Amazonas at Arena da Amazônia.
Amazonas and Volta Redonda also remain firm in the fight for access to the Brasileirão Série B. The Manaus team is second in the group with nine points and will qualify with a draw at home against Belo or even in the event of a defeat, if the Rio team doesn’t beat Paysandu.
Voltaço, third place with a total of seven, needs to triumph by two goals difference over the Pará team at the Raulino de Oliveira Stadium. A victory by two goals would make Volta Redonda and Paysandu a draw on all criteria, with the team from Rio having the advantage due to direct confrontation.
All alive in Group B of Brasileirão Série C
In Group B, Brusque is already assured of the Brasileirão Série B in the final since the 4th round, with 12 points. The other three teams in the bracket are still alive. São Bernardo defeated the team from Santa Catarina 2-0 on Saturday (30) on the First of May and is in second place with a total of seven.
São José and Operário drew 1-1 at Passo D’Areia yesterday (01). Zequinha is in third place with five points, while Fantasma is in fourth place with four.
In the last round on Sunday (08), São Bernardo is the only one that will depend solely on itself to qualify. An away victory over Operário puts the ABC team from São Paulo in the Brasileirão Série B. If they draw, they will be rooting for São José not to defeat Brusque in Santa Catarina by three goals.
In the case of Operário’s victory, São Bernardo will be eliminated and the team from Paraná will defeat São José. If Fantasma wins at home, at Germano Krüger in Ponta Grossa, they will return to the Segundona if Zequinha does not beat Brusque.
If the Porto Alegre team triumphs in Santa Catarina, at Augusto Bauer, they will hope for São Bernardo’s defeat. If the São Paulo team draws in Paraná, the Gauchos will need to win by three goals difference.
