A search and rescue mission has ended in tragedy with the bodies of two children and a woman pulled from a waterway in Sydney’s south-west.
About 10.15am on Saturday, emergency services were called to a boat ramp in Floyd Bay, in the Georges River, “after a woman and two children were seen in the water in distress”, NSW Police said.
“A short time later a woman was pulled from the water, however, she was unable to be revived,” police said.
A major search mission was launched, involving police, Marine Area Command, PolAir and State Emergency Service for the two children.
Divers could be seen searching next to a small white jetty, where one body is understood to have been located, with the second found about 100 metres downstream shortly after 2pm.
Police are due to provide further information about the incident this afternoon.
Police boats and jet skis could be seen searching the area on Saturday as the SES launched vessels and multiple helicopters flew overhead. The local car parks and streets are also lined with emergency services.
