CULTURE – Never two without three? If France cultivated the hope of winning again Junior Eurovision for the third year in a row, it is finally Georgia who won the 22nd edition, which took place in Madrid this Saturday, November 16. Its candidate, the young Andria Putkaradz, greatly moved the public with his song entitled “To My Mom.”
The 11-year-old boy performed his song in a poignant setting, first sitting at a table writing a letter to his mother, then facing the camera in a shower of snowflakes. The Georgian lyrics of this song are a declaration of love deep from a child to his mother. They tell of the infinite gratitude towards the one who is described as a refuge, a source of comfort and light in dark times. The song also evokes the sacrifices of the mother, her unconditional tenderness and the importance of her smile, which illuminates and warms the child’s life.
The title, imbued with universal emotion, was written and composed by Giga Kukhianidze and Maka Davitaya, two Georgian composers. The song collected 239 points, giving Georgia its fourth trophy, the most victories in the history of the competition.
