Ash fall ‘paralyzes’ Puebla airport; flights are suspended – El Financiero

Before the ash fall from the Popocatepetl volcano Flights to and from Puebla were suspended at the Puebla International Airport.

“This coordination reports that through the CENAPRED cameras, it was observed that the Popocatépetl Volcano maintained the constant emission of ash, water vapor and gas,” reported the General Coordination of Civil Protection, in Puebla.

In addition, there were periods of tremor and the most intense occurred between 11:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m., accompanied by the expulsion of ballistic matter around the crater. The volcanic alert traffic light remains Yellow Phase 2.

The exhalations are maintained, so the ash is understood between the north and northeast of the volcano, that is, over Puebla and Tlaxcala.

Meanwhile, the affected municipalities are Calpan, Domingo Arenas, Huejotzingo, San Nicolás de los Ranchos and Atlixco.

Ash fall is also expected in Tianguismanalco, Chiautzingo, San Felipe Teotlalcingo, San Salvador el Verde, San Martin Texmelucan and San Matías Tlalancaleca. Civil Protection recommends that the population near the volcano avoid exposure to the open air.
