Antonio Banderas once told us that His life has something of Homer’s Odyssey. “Of that man who has traveled around the world, has lived adventures and has met various characters.” And he, like Ulysses, has returned to his home, Malaga, to embark on new projects and become your best ambassador -although, with humility, he told us not to consider himself as such.
“I want to do things that I think, from here, can go outside. Also to get rid of many complexes and realize that there is great talent at all levels,” the actor confessed to us, that five years ago he fulfilled his great dream: a theater, Soho Caixabank, which today is part of the cultural ‘heart’ of the Andalusian city.
But it is not the only – nor, surely, will it be the last – challenge with which it surprises us. That young man from Malaga who, in the eighties, left on a train bound for Madrid, with fifteen thousand pesetas sewn – by his mother, Doña Ana – in the inside pocket of his pants and a great desire to take on the world; He has also dared with the restoration.
Without going any further, last May, I was talking again with HELLO! to tell us the details of El Pimpi Marbella -the iconic Malaga tavern, with more than half a century of history, of which he is a partner-, which opened its doors in the Puente Romano Beach Resort of the Costa del Sol.
For his career as a performer and his tireless work in the cultural scene of Malaga, Antonio received, last Friday, November 15, a new distinction: the Magos Foundation Award for cultural development.
An award – granted by this organization that seeks to distinguish ‘magicians’ (that is, wise men) who promote dialogue between cultures and religions, which highlighted their important work in promoting – and putting on the map – their hometown.
The dancer Joaquín Cortés, the minister Margarita Robles, the organization of Nobel Women of Peace, the Junta de Andalucía and the HCHF of Abu Dhabi also joined the list of winners.
