Deadline is reporting that Anne Hathaway and Dave Bautista are set to team up for a buddy cop-style action comedy based upon a real FBI sting where two agents posed as a couple and staged a wedding to infiltrate organised crime groups.
The movie is being written by Jonathan Tropper (The Adam Project), who also scripted The Wrecking Crew, an action film that Bautista is currently shooting with Jason Momoa and Morena Baccarin, and is being produced by Avengers: Endgame directors Anthony and Joe Russo through their AGBO production company for Amazon MGM.
As per Deadline, the true-life story “will be refashioned into a mismatched partner story of two undercover FBI agents with radically different styles being forced to pretend to cohabitate. Initially, they detest one another. By the end they learn to respect each other as the case winds to a close.”
Anne Hathaway has been filling up her slate in the past few months, signing on for The Princess Diaries 3, Colleen Hoover adaptation Verity, a Joseph Gordon-Levitt-directed AI thriller, and Christopher Nolan’s next film. Bautista meanwhile will follow The Wrecking Crew with the star-studded alien invasion comedy Alpha Gang.
