After last season’s break, the F1 drivers returned to the tracks and debuted in the season at the Bahrain International Circuit.
With a new team in 2023 in Formula 1, Fernando Alonso was one of the highlights of the first race of the year.
After two seasons, the Spanish driver left Alpine for Aston Martin and did well in his debut for the new team.
Alonso takes podium in F1
With the grid defined, Alonso started the year of Formula 1 starting behind the two cars from Red Bull and Ferrari, in 5th place.
Close behind in the starting order sequence were the Mercedes F1 duo of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell.
Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc even fought for second place, but ended up having problems and did not complete the Formula 1 race.
Hepta champion, Hamilton fought a duel for position with Alonso and even tried to make life difficult for the Spanish driver, but ended up being overcome.
The day wasn’t good for Ferrari, the team couldn’t hold on to third place with Carlos Sainz and ended up missing the F1 podium.
In an inspired race, Alonso ended up in third place, behind only the Red Bull duo.
Aston Martin had even more reason to celebrate the debut of the 2023 season in Formula 1.
Alonso’s teammate Lance Stroll recovered from an accident and finished the Bahrain GP in 6th place.
