Alec Baldwin refused to see the final cut of “Rust”
CULTURE – He doesn’t feel ready. The actor and producer Alec Balddin has so far refused to see his own movie Rust, whose filming was marked by the death of the director of photography Halyna Hutchins shot dead in 2021, he revealed in Variety this Monday, November 25.
“I was sent a rough cut before everything got a little more complicated. So I haven’t seen the film. But, once again, I hope that the film will be released and that it will make a profit for its investors.”he declared while the film was presented for the first time in Poland on November 20.
And to add: “I hope the film sells, and Matt Hutchins (Halyna’s husband) gets his money. We all made an agreement with him and we all want to respect it. But this idea that people (…) say: “You benefit from it!” is totally false. » He also explains that he made an agreement with the victim’s husband, giving him all the rights to the film.
Alec Baldwin’s wife ‘traumatized’
Also asked about his desire to see the finished film, he replied: “Not now, no. » “Only because it’s obviously the hardest thing I’ve ever had to deal with in my life.” Besides the victims themselves, the thing that hurts me the most is what it did to my wife. She was very, very traumatized. » He also says to himself “stunned, gutted” by recent years.
The fatal accident occurred while filming a scene leading up to the final action sequence, at a church on Bonanza Creek Ranch, New Mexico. Alec Baldwin, who was handling the gun at the time of the accident, was charged with manslaughter, but the case was dismissed last July on the grounds that the prosecution had failed to provide evidence. The armorer, Hannah Gutierrez Reedshe is serving an 18-month sentence for loading the weapon with a real bullet. Director Joel Souza was also injured in the accident.
