An ode to Barcelona

The living room wall has a rich texture, that of the ‘treasure’ discovered during the works: the exposed brick. Alexandra decided to leave this wall exposed to remember the story of the building, which is located in the heart of the old city of Barcelona.

Although the architecture leaves visible traces of its past, the decoration is completely modern with touches between Mediterranean and Nordic.

In this environment the carpetwith its geometric design, helps visually expand spacewhile defining the different areas in the open space. Its pattern follows the lines of the ceiling beams, creating visual harmony.

But he The main concept of the project, in addition to achieving spaciousness, was to capture the vibrant colors transmitted by the vault of the Santa Caterina market, which is located a few meters from the floor.. “We wanted that architectural reference so emblematic of Barcelona to be reflected in the interior of the home. To achieve this, we incorporated touches of these bright tones in various elements of the space, creating a connection between the urban environment and the interior of the home,” says Alexandra. This is the case of Alexandra Leira’s painting Crafting Spaces or the orange Skälboda armchair, from Ikea.

Another tribute to Barcelona is the incorporation of the ‘Cestita’ lamp by Santa & Cole, designed by Barcelona-born Miguel Milá. And they wanted to pay tribute to the Catalan capital not only through colors, but also through iconic pieces of local design that add character and authenticity to the space.
