They have earned a reputation for ‘home’ the homes that fall into their hands, so it is not surprising that they are raffled off in the capital. “We attach great importance to our spaces being livable, harmonious and with welcoming lighting. In short, always want to come home and feel at ease,” they say. Cristina Chaves and Adriana Arranz. Architects by training, friends and associatesopened their studio in 2008, in the middle of the real estate crisis, and named it after their mothers’ surnamesa tribute to its two great references who, judging by the more than a hundred renovated houses they have behind them, have brought them luck.
The key to success? Like two detectives, first, soak one hundred percent in the way of being and the way of live off the clientso that your house is a carbon copy of your personality; second, work with materials with carefrom the paneling on walls and ceilings, to the carpentry and textile details. “Each project is like creating a small work of art, a handmade and elaborate work that, after all, is what gives warmth and spatial richness to our homes,” they say.
An example is the housing in Chamberí that illustrates these pages, to which a few months ago they handed over the keys after a radical change. “It had a compartmentalized and dark layout and we have created a connected day area in which all spaces are nourished by the natural light. In this way, they can be used together or independently,” they both summarize.
