The recent passage of the DANA It has left countless tragedies and numerous broken families throughout our country. Among them is that of a 20-year-old Valencian woman, who after surviving the devastating floods, lost track of her parents and her brother. Unfortunately, his father’s body was found dead last Friday, but there is no trace of his mother, Rachelnor his brother, Neizan. So after so many days without hearing from them, the young woman fears the worst outcome.
Alicia Fernandez, a friend of the family, has become the “spokesperson” of the family and yesterday she made an appeal in Antena 3 News asking for help to find Raquel and Neizan since the survivor of the family is exhausted and unable to gain strength. “We were able to find the father’s body and we said goodbye as he deserved,” she comments through tears, “but we still have no trace of Raquel and Neizan… and no one tells us anything.” The situation has been even more frustrating for them due to the limitations that authorities have imposed on their search efforts. Although they tried to organize raids on their own, the authorities did not allow them access, something that has increased desperation and helplessness.
“Raquel has a 20-year-old daughter and the poor thing is devastated. She can’t even speak and doesn’t want to leave the house… we need to find them for her, so she can find a little peace,” shares Alicia, who fears that the young woman has lost to his entire family in this catastrophe. In an attempt to ease the uncertainty, Alicia and other friends tried to calm the teenager on the day of the flood, assuring her that her parents and brother might be stuck in traffic. “But when everyone arrived and they didn’t…”, his voice breaks, “we have already lost hope of finding them alive.”
The official balance of DANA is shocking: 219 people dead, 93 missing and a total of In the midst of this disaster, the Police and the Civil Guard are asking the families of the missing for information and DNA samples to try to identify the remaining victims.
