The Government harshly attacks the PP for breaking the negotiation on the migration crisis in the Canary Islands

Hours after the PP declared negotiations broken with the Government to deal with the migration crisis in the Canary Islands, the Executive has responded by describing it as “implausible” the excuses of the popular ones.

Sources from the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory explained to 20 minutes who regret “a new obstacle that the PP puts in the negotiations. When progress is made they always put more conditions in order to torpedo the agreement.”

The same sources added that the popular “acted in the same way on July 23, when they rejected the admission for processing in Congress of the legislative modification that would allow the reception of migrant minors throughout the territory. If approved, “The transfers would already be taking place.”

“It is striking that the PP unilaterally broke off the negotiations for false information“, say the socialists, since they assure that “in no case has the Government of Spain rejected EU aid. An aid that is regulated.”

“The regulations of the Migration and Asylum Pact come into force in 2026. Until then referral options at 27 are voluntary. If there was a willingness to seek agreements, the PP would raise its conditions at the negotiating table. Not this way. It is irresponsible,” say Ministry sources.

The socialists say that in Genoa “They have been making excuses for days to unilaterally break off the negotiations.

“A few days ago they ‘reported’ that leaks of the proposals presented in the negotiation were occurring. Another falsehood that is easily verified asking the media that have echoed this information,” say Territorial Policy sources.

These sources believe that “the PP uses this humanitarian emergency for its political strategy to wear down the Government, but they are doing terrible harm to those children and adolescents. The PP demands help and refuses to help,” they conclude.

The position of the PP

This Saturday, the PP spokesperson in the Congress of Deputies, Miguel Telladohas communicated to the Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Angel Victor Torreswhich is suspend the meeting that they were both going to have next Monday, September 7.

In it, the migration crisis that affects the Canary Islands was going to be discussed, by accusing the Executive of “reject aid” from the European Union to face this situation.

According to PP sources, “Tellado has informed Ángel Víctor Torres that the talks are suspended until the government reconsiders and seek community support for the resolution of a conflict that is not only in the Canary Islands and is not only in Spain.”

“It is unacceptable that the Government of Spain prevents Europe from helping the Canary Islands out of pure political interestfor his obsession with torpedoing the Canary Islands government,” they said.
