The former first lady of the United States, Melania Trumppublished this Thursday a video in which reiterates his defense of abortionwithout mentioning that word, after knowing an extract from his first autobiographical book, Melaniain which a woman’s right to terminate a pregnancy is defended.

“Individual freedom is a fundamental principle that I defend,” the wife of the former president and Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump (2017-2021), begins by saying in the video published on X.

“There is certainly no room for concessions when it comes to this essential right that every woman has from birth: individual freedom. What does my body, my choice, really mean?” reflects Melania. not to mention abortionin the video recorded in black and white.

It is about a key issue ahead of the November 5 electionsin which her husband defends leaving the decision in the hands of each state while the vice president and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris supports its restoration as a right at the national level.

“Restricting a woman’s right to choose whether to terminate an unwanted pregnancy is the same as deny you control over your own body. “I have carried this belief with me throughout my adult life,” Melania says in her book, according to the British newspaper Guardianwhich exclusively published excerpts from the book.

“Why should anyone other than the woman herself have the power to determine what she does with her own body? The fundamental right of women to individual freedom, to her own life, gives her the authority to terminate her pregnancy if she wishes,” the former first lady states in the book.

Roe vs. Wade

In June 2022, the US Supreme Court repealed the protection of the right to abortion in force in this country since 1973, known as the Roe vs. Wade case.

Trump has claimed that decision as a triumph his when he was in the Presidency since he appointed the three Supreme Court justices who ended federal abortion protections.
