The former president of the Government, Felipe Gonzálezparticipated this Thursday in the La Toja-Vínculo Atlántico Forum held on the Galician island, where a tribute to the Venezuelan opponent Edmundo González Urrutia and in which he wanted to talk about the result of the last elections in Venezuela, after which Nicolas Maduro He proclaimed himself president despite the fact that the international community has recognized that the leader of the Democratic Unitary Platform “achieved the majority of the votes” in Venezuela according to “available data.”
“Edmundo González did not win the elections, Maduro lost them. Who won them? There is no way to know,” said the historic socialist in his speech, in which he was accompanied by the president-elect of the European Council, António Costa. The comment caused laughter from some of those present while González Urrutia watched attentively.
During the event, the socialist also held a dialogue with former popular president Mariano Rajoy, in which he defended that there was “a little more enthusiasm in defense of democracy and freedom” by “some” and has addressed the Venezuelan opposition leader to affirm that he is the one who won the elections in his country.
The words have been followed by prolonged applause of those received by González with expressions of gratitude. At the end of that event, the three participants in the dialogue approached him to hug him, and so did other attendees on the first day of the forum, including the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóoand the president of the Xunta, Alfonso Rueda.
This same Wednesday, the Carter Center’s senior advisor for Latin America, Jennie Lincoln, showed the Organization of American States (OAS) the alleged original voting records of the presidential elections in Venezuela on July 28, according to which the opposition standard bearer González Urrutia won with 67%.
The opponent, in addition, gave himself a mass bath last Saturday at Puerta del Sol in Madridin a rally with hundreds of protesters against the Maduro regime.
