A man who felt ripped off after paying £8,000 to hire two escorts tried to get his bank to return the money by using rules designed for scam victims.
The randy customer acquired their services for thee hours through a website and met them at a prearranged location.
However, having been left disappointed by the experience, he has since submitted a complaint to his bank, Barclays, claiming he was scammed, the Sun reports.
The bank stated it was not possible to understand just what arrangement had been made between himself and the escorts.
The firm therefore advised the man, whom they referred to as Mr H, to pursue a civil case.
The man hired the escorts using an online site for a three hour window and met them at a prearranged location.
Barclays said: ‘The protection of our customers’ funds and data is our highest priority.’
Seemingly ignoring the bank’s advice, Mr H escalated his complaint to the UK financial regulators.
The Financial Ombudsman Service denied Mr H’s claim and reasoned that he had met the escorts who had intended to provide the agreed services.
The regulator stated: ‘The escorts may not have completed what was agreed and/or Mr H did not receive all the services he expected — but that’s not enough to say that this was a scam.
‘I accept Mr H may feel the agreement was not completed, and the escorts are now uncontactable.
The regulator also stated that this is a civil matter that concerns the two parties involved and it is not Barclays that is to blame.
A Barclays spokesperson said: ‘The protection of our customers’ funds and data is our highest priority.’
