These are dark days in Italy after the death of Agata Margaret Spada, a 22-year-old Italian woman who lost her life after a cosmetic operation in a clinic in Rome. It was she herself who, excited, contacted the center after seeing it advertised on TikTok, thinking that she had found the perfect place to end a complex that had accompanied her for years. The center, run by surgeon Marco Antonio Procopio, promised quick and affordable results, a combination that attracted Agata. After saving up to carry out the procedure, she traveled from Syracuse, her hometown, accompanied by her partner.

The operation, which did not even begin, took a tragic turn just a few minutes after administering local anesthesia. Agata began to suffer from tremors, dizziness and nausea, falling into a coma shortly after. She was rushed to the Sant’Eugenio hospital in Rome, where, after three days of fighting without a response, she lost her life.

However, the circumstances of the case have raised numerous suspicions. Fundamental documents such as Agata’s medical history or informed consent, an essential requirement for any surgical intervention, were not found in the clinic.

Nor did it have adequate equipment or personnel to handle emergencies like the one the young woman suffered.
